What I Always Take When Travelling

If you know me, you know I am not a light traveller. I find it super difficult to condense down my home comforts and just take the bare essentials. I have gotten so much better in recent years, what with going on more budget airlines and luggage size limits on airlines decreasing. A gal has to adapt. There are a few bits that no matter where I go, I always have with me. Life essentials if you will.

Micellar Water: I honestly couldn't live without the stuff. I use is every morning to cleanse my face, to take make up off my hand after applying foundation and I use it every night to take the bulk of my make up off. I am a total Micellar water junkie and haven't been without it since I bought my first bottle of Bioderma 4 years or so ago. I go between a few different types but for right now I love Garniers Micellar offering. Plus the Garnier one comes in a Travel Size version that usually around £1, so perfect for me!

Neutral Eyeshadow Palette: This one is a no brainer! A neutral eyeshadow palette is a total staple in a gals travel make up bag. You can go from day to night so easily in one palette and there almost always a black or dark brown you can use as liquid liner if you wet your brush before use (top tip!). My favourites to take away with me are either the original Naked Palette or the MAC Amber x9 (pictured). There are so many options of these on the high street to these days. L'Oreal's La Palette Nude is ace and Collection Eyes Uncovered is a great one too.

Face Mask: Now bear with me on this one, I am aware it is slightly high maintenance. Do you ever get really bad foundation application when your away? Does your skin go a bit dull, grey or dry and crepey? Well my friend, you need to take a face mask away with you. Skin is very sensitive to change of weather and environment, so its really important that you accommodate for it. I always take away a sheet mask or something hydrating or with AHA in it as I get very flakey skin really easily, so I need hydration or peel its always one or the other. Sheet masks are brilliant for travelling too. Masque Bar has fab sheet masks and Sanctuary spa does travel size sachets too!

Stick Foundation: Now that I have discovered stick foundations, I am a total convert. I now always take one travelling with me. They are so buildable in coverage and light weight. With sick foundations there is no chance of having the dreaded foundation explosion in your make up bag en route either! The two I go between are the Make Up Forever Foundation Stick and the newer Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick.

A 'Does It All' Cleanser: My top thing I can't go away without is a cleanser that does it all. By this I mean one that can take off all the make up, dirt and grime in one go. For me that is Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish. It's a cleanser that never lets me down or breaks me out and takes off every scrap of make up. An all round good egg! I also love the Elemis Collagen Cleansing Balm.

What are your essentials for travel?
