Hero Products of 2016

First things first, Happy New Year my lovelies! So I didn't write to you in December and for that I am sorry. However loads of new content is being planned and executed around here behind the scenes so you have that to look forward to. Also I hope you like the new look around these parts! I'm loving how much easier the site is to navigate and find everything you want!

I thought I'd do a round up of my hero products of last year to start off the blog in 2017. I actually prefer reading these on blogs rather than watching 2016 favourites videos - I think you can get a more in depth look at the what why and how's of the products chosen.

Starting off with Body, Hair, Nails & Face. There have been a few really stand out products for me this year. One of the ones I have been blown away by is Pixi Glow Tonic, I simply cannot believe I wait until 2016 to try this. Glow Tonic is a phenomenal acid exfoliating product that resurfaces your skin, revealing glowing, radiant skin underneath. Its amazing. Since I started using it, I can't tell you how many compliments I got about my skin! Another skincare product that rocked my boat this year is the Kiehl's Hydro Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate. It is not only unbelievably hydrating, it also smooths out the general texture of your skin. So if you suffer with those pesky under the skin bumps like I did, I can't recommend this enough!

Speaking of bumps, especially this winter my dry, bumpy arms have been thanking the beauty gods for the Ameliorate Skin Smoothing Lotion. This stuff has been actually really life changing for me. I have suffered with Keratosis Pilaris AKA 'Chicken Skin' on my arms and legs for as long as I can remember. I never wear tops without sleeves because of it. However since using this, its completely smoothed out those pesky bumps and I have baby soft skin. Its total magic and I am so happy I have found a product that actually helps! On the subject of smoothing, OUAI Hair Oil has been taming my locks for the most of 2016. This is now a 'can't live without' product. It detangles, tames, adds shine and makes your hair look like a hair advert!

A few honorable mentions from last year go to Lush's infamous The Comforter bubble bar. I have used this loads both in 2015 and 2016, its the one I take away with me and my favourite overall for multitasking as it cleans, moisturises and scents. Nails Inc's Gel Effect Polish in the shade Uptown is what I have been reaching for the most in 2016 to put on my mitts. Its the perfect pink blush and just neutral enough to go with everything. A bit of a late comer in the fragrance stakes of 2016's best is Jo Malone's Peony & Blush Suede. I got this as a birthday gift in October and have worn nothing else since. Its floral and feminine and perfect for both day and night.

Now onto my Make Up faves from 2016. Lets start with my base. Two foundations really stuck out to me this year and one of them was Charlotte Tilbury's Light Wonder Foundation. I wore this all summer long, it is the ultimate glow getting base. It makes you look like you've had enough sleep at all times and that you have never touched a drink in your life. Its model skin in a tube. The next foundation I fell for was Hourglasses new offering for 2016 - the Vanish Foundation Stick. This foundation packs a full coverage punch whilst still being moisturising and flawless. It almost knocked my beloved Doublewear of the No.1 foundation top spot this year. Its a fantastic product and one I will definitely be using for years to come. I've been applying both of those with an Artis Brush - one I put to the test vs a cheaper model on my YouTube channel this year and since then I have used it loads to get my moneys worth - and in the process fallen i love with. It gives flawless application in about 30 seconds. Its my go to for work mornings! To add some glow on top of my base the Cheek combo I have fallen for in 2016 was MAC Warm Soul Blush & MAC Soft & Gentle Highlighter. The combination of the two gives the most beautiful warmth to the complexion without being too over the top.

When it comes to eyes I have a firm mascara favourite from the highstreet and that is L'Oreal's Miss Hippie Mascara. It makes your lashes really voluminous whilst keeping them feminine and fluttery, the perfect result from a mascara! My eyeshadow love from last year is also from the highstreet, its one of the Rimmel Glam Eyes Mono Shadow's in the shade Millionaire. This shadow is my go-to Taupe and works with any lipstick or make up look. Its pigmented enough for whacking all over the lid on a busy morning and its what I used the most of in 2016. When it comes to brows, the Anastasia Brow Definer has been my holy grail brow product of 2016. Its gloriously waxy and the perfect tone of mud for my brows. Its unique shape means I can get my brows done in under a minute too!

Finally the lip product that has impressed me the most in 2016 has been the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. When I first tried these in 2015, I wasn't a fan. But with their launch in the UK in 2016, it seems they were reformulated and the new formula completely won me over. Once they are on they don't budge, they aren't drying and they are under £6. Whats not to love?

Well done if you got through this mammoth post! Let me know in the comments down below what your Hero Products of 2016 were!
