My Favourite Corners Of My Home

This time last year, me and Nick moved out of my Mums house and moved into our own place again. If you have been following me for a while, you know that we previously lived in a tiny studio flat in South West London, coincidentally where this baby blog was born, and moved back in with my Mum to save some money. A year and a half after that, we fell in love with this place Nick spotted on rightmove and we just knew that was the place for us, even though we didn't want to rent again. This was the first time we had a place to truly call our own, we have a really flexible landlord so we were allowed to decorate the place and really put our mark on it, which has meant that this flat really feels like home. So with that in mind, I wanted to share my favourite little corners and a few stories behind them.

First up is the bar cart. This actually used to be a grey standard ikea kitchen trolley that we had had as extra storage for our tiny little SW16 flat. When we got the go ahead for our current place I knew that I wanted a bar cart because we had so much more room and a spare room for guests when we wanted to entertain. The only thing is I didn't have the bougie bar cart budget of dreams, so I knew I had to upcycle something. Then I remembered about our shabby old kitchen cart and knew I had the imagination to make it something special. A few spray cans of copper paint and some B&Q kitchen floor tiles later we had our own insta-worthy bar cart! Its still my abosolute favourite thing I have done to this flat. I love things that have stories behind them

Secondly is a little corner of the office, on my dressing table desk I have a corner filled with three books I love. My favourite has to be Pretty Iconic, Sali was one of my inspirations for starting this blog, its also signed. She booked in a date of her book tour at Foyles in my local town after I sent her a photo of how they displayed her wonderful book. I also love the polaroid in this corner, it was taken in the dressing room of Islington Assembly Hall when I toured with a band in the first few months of me and Nick being together, he came out to support me that night and took this polaroid.

The next thing is a relatively new addition to our home but it means the world. My friend Lucy hand stitched this as a gift for our engagement, it was just so incredibly thoughtful, my favourite colours, a sausage dog and the date we got engaged. Its so precious to me! She runs her own Etsy shop call Maple Leaf if you wanted to take a gander!

The final things I love in my home are these frames, there are now four on our walls, for each year Nick has been working as a drum tech. He frames his laminates and wristbands of every gig he does and every time I look at them I just fill with such pride! He has been doing this job from the first day we got together so not only do these show the progression in his work, I see them as memory markers as our relationship too. I absolutely love them.

I hope you enjoyed a small flat tour and learnt a lil bit more about me through this! I love sharing things like this, so please let me know in the comments below what your favourite things in your home are!
